Police seek help to solve 2 robbery cases

POLICE have appealed to the public for information that might help in solving two daring armed robbery cases that have shaken communities in Harare and Esigodini in the past week.

At around 1830 hours on Saturday, two unidentified suspects armed with pistols stormed a residence in Habane Township, Esigodini, Matabeleland South Province.

The two made off with a staggering US$45 000 in cash. During the violent encounter, one occupant of the house was shot in the chest and is receiving medical treatment at a hospital in Bulawayo.

Two days earlier, a separate robbery had occurred in the capital where eight armed assailants attacked a security guard stationed at a local security company on Lynnington Road, Strathaven, Avondale. Armed with firearms and iron bars, the attackers stole US$23 175 in cash, along with five firearms, seven pepper sprays and seven handcuffs.

Police urged communities to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities while encouraging residents to visit their nearest police stations with any leads. —New Ziana.
