POLICE in Bulawayo have waged war on an alleged drug queen in Entumbane suburb, as residents have raised concerns over the rise in delinquent behaviour linked to youths taking drugs in the area.
Addressing residents from the suburb yesterday, Bulawayo provincial deputy police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube said police would not rest until they brought sanity back to the neighbourhood.
“We are working on cracking this drug epidemic. There has been a surge in delinquent activity in the area, with young children, primary schoolchildren to be precise, getting addicted to drugs. We are saying no to this and we will not rest until we eradicate it,” he said.
Insp Ncube said there was a house in Entumbane, which was notoriously known for being a drug haven.
“There is a house that is notoriously known for selling and supplying drugs in the neighbourhood. There is a serious crisis here, the house has been under investigation since 2016. There, the house is being rented by a number of individuals but the prominent name being that of this notorious drug queen known as MaHadebe. We have been trying to locate and establish the real owner of the house but to no avail,” he said.
Insp Ncube noted that each time a raid was conducted at the house and drugs seized, a tenant would claim ownership of them.
“Each time we raid the house a different tenant claims ownership of the drugs, but the drugs belong to this MaHadebe. All of them have been arrested and taken to court where they are either slapped with a jail term or an option to pay a fine, which is the option they always take,” he said.
Insp Ncube urged residents to report any illicit behaviour at the house or instigate citizen’s arrest if necessary.
