POLICE have warned the public over illegal activities threatening the aquatic life at Lake Chivero.

The call was made by Harare North District officer, Superintendent Resistant Ncube, during a family musical show at Hunyani Hills on Saturday.

Police warned people engaged in illegal mining, around the lake, and revellers who are polluting the water body, that the law will soon catch up with them.

“We are warning those throwing litter and polluting water as well as those engaging in illegal mining to stop or face the full wrath of the law,” said Supt Ncube.

“Forewarned is forearmed.

“Police will not fold hands and watch illegal gold and quarry miners destroying mountains supporting Lake Chivero.

“Lake Chivero is a source of water for people in and around Harare,” he said.

Among the artists who performed at the concert were Mathias Mhere, Enzo Ishal, Police Band, DJ Fantan and Mbeu.
