ZANU-PF’S Politburo met in Harare yesterday to discuss issues of economic importance, including indigenisation and land reforms.
The Politburo met for almost five hours, adjourning at around 11PM. Yesterday’s marathon meeting sought to thrash out topical issues that have been gripping national attention such as debate around proposals on strengthening and clarifying the implementation of the Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment Act.

Ruling party secretary for information and publicity Cde Rugare Gumbo told our Harare Bureau that a fuller briefing on the discussions would be made today.

However, Finance and Economic Development Minister Cde Patrick Chinamasa told the National Assembly last week that cabinet had directed Youth Development, Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment Minister Cde Francis Nhema to align the law with policy pronouncements made by President Mugabe.

President Mugabe has in several public statements made known his desire to tighten the policy so that it better benefits Zimbabweans.
Cde Chinamasa said last week that the indigenisation policy, as pronounced by the President, would ensure greater economic participation by indigenous Zimbabweans and guarantee win-win scenarios with investors.
