Political parties urged to shun violence

Moyo said violence does not pay but leaves behind a trail of negative memories in the communities.

He  was  speaking  at  the Harare District 2012 Cop of the Year Awards held in Harare yesterday, where he handed over certificates to police officers who excelled in the execution of police duties during the year under review.

“Let me hasten to say that political parties should also educate their members and supporters to desist from engaging in violence as we approach the harmonised elections,” said Asst Comm Moyo.

“As ZRP we vehemently say no to all forms of violence and declare that we have the capacity to deal with all forms of violence.”
Asst Comm Moyo also warned motorists against flouting traffic regulations and city by-laws while fleeing from the law enforcement agents.

“Such perpetrators will have themselves to blame when the full wrath of the law descends upon them,” he said.
Asst Comm Moyo also expressed concern over the increase in cases of robbery cases and unlawful entry in and around Harare.
