It was pomp and funfair on Sunday as several musicians came to join Joy Centre owner David Mudzudzu’s birthday celebrations in Highfield.
Porgress Chipfumo, Tatenda Pinjisi, Carlos Green, Peter Moyo and Potifa Mopo among others came to support the promoter as they staged good performances.
Musicians took the stage as early as 2pm and merrymakers thronged the venue when the performances began.
Mudzudzu said he was grateful to musicians that and patrons that celebrated with him.
“The Zimbabwe Business and Arts Hub was part of the celebrations. They did well to honour me on my big day and they brought me a big cake.
“I am grateful the musicians and people who came to celebrate with me,” he said.
Musicians that performed did well as they thrilled thousands of merrymakers that came for the event.
The outdoor venue witnessed one of the biggest crowds at the celebrations.
It shows that people have accepted the venue as a prime centre of joy for Highfield and surrounding areas.
Mudzudzu said he is happy that musicians and fans are utilising his joint and concept to have fun-filled weekends.
“We have upcoming musicians who might find it difficult to launch their careers and we are here to assist them, we have those whose careers are waning and we need also to assist them,” he said.
Mudzudzu believes in promoting musicians despite their backgrounds.
“Promotion is not about taking established musicians.
“These young stars needs our support. We have also those who made headlines in the past years and are failing to make it, they need our help,” he said.
