Pool association tables $10 000 budget

Kondo-led executive held its first executive meeting at Raylton Sports Club on Saturday.
In an interview soon after the meeting BPA publicity officer Preston Nyamangara said the league is currently locked in negotiations with several corporate bodies with a view of securing permanent sponsorship for the league.
“The executive is engaging the corporate world and we have some big players in the corporate sector who have expressed willingness to come on board and I’m not at liberty to reveal them now as it might hurt the process,” said Nyamangara.
Although he could not reveal the identities of the prospective sponsors speculation is high that a major banking company and beverages manufacturing firm have expressed willingness to bankroll the fast growing sport.
Saturday’s meeting also resolved to review affiliation fees for the coming season.
Teams plying their trade in the Premier League will this year fork out $100 as team affiliation fees up from $50 that was paid last season. Players in this league will each affiliate with $10 up from last year’s $5.
Teams in Division One will be required to pay an affiliation fee of $50 while players will pay $10.
The league will also allow for double registration in Division One. This means that a single team can register an A and B side in Division One.
The total number of teams for Division One has also been reviewed upward from 16 to 20. The league is thus expected to register 36 teams for the 2012 season.
Registration deadline has been set at 7 February and the league is set to begin on 11 February.
“We will be flighting an advert in the Press to notify all interested clubs of the proper registration procedure,” Nyamangara said.
Nyamangara urged all teams to stick to the deadline to ensure a timeous start to the season.
