Pool battle of the cities set for Beitbridge

THE border town of Beitbridge is set to play host to a two-day national pool tournament that will feature provincial teams on 16 and 17 July.

a�?So far six provincial teams from Bulawayo, Harare, Gwanda, Beitbridge, Harare and Kwekwe have confirmed that they are going to take part. We are expecting to have more participants and we are still waiting for other teams to confirm their participation,a�? said the tournamenta��s publicity officer Adams Kamurayi.

a�?The hosts who are also going to partly sponsor the contest are going to accommodate 10 players per team and the prize structure is going to be announced in due course.

The tournament is going to feature both ladies and men,a�? said Kamurayi.

Registration is set for Friday 15 July at Beitbridge Hotel. Resident teams will pay a registration fee of $300 while travelling teams are expected to each pay $250.

With regards to the tournamentsa�� playing format, Kamurayi said three scotch doubles and six singles would be used in the mena��s category.

In the womena��s category, they will play two scotch doubles and five singles.

Bulawayo, who played host to last yeara��s edition of the contest, are the tournamenta��s defending champions.

Chitungwiza and Gwanda came out second and third respectively.
