Pool fans in for a treat

POOL enthusiasts in the city are in for a treat when the Bulawayo Pool Association (BPA) plays host to two Heroes’ tournaments during the long weekend. The first competition will be held at Shumba Bar tomorrow and Sunday while the second will be on Monday and Tuesday at Max Tshisa Nyama. Confirming the events, BPA publicity secretary Donald Wadawu said they had organised tournaments in place of league matches which were scheduled for the weekend.

“We have cancelled the league matches following a request from our players who want to go on Heroes Holiday.

“In place of league matches we are having two tournaments to be played over the weekend and with the second over the Heroes Holiday on Monday and Tuesday,” said Wadawu.

He said the tournament was open to everyone both men and women who wish to play pool and the participation fee for each player is $2 per tournament.

“The tourney will be open to both men and women,” he said.
The registration ends at 12pm tomorrow and the draw will be done soon after.

Shumba Bar owner Nomalanga Dusart said they had taken advantage of the league break to play host to the tournament.

“After seeing that they won’t be any pool activity this weekend, we decided to sponsor a singles tournament open to everyone.
“It is an opportunity for players to practice for the forthcoming Black Label National Pool tournament,” said Dusart.

In the men’s category, the first prize will be $200, second $120 while third and fourth will be $70 and $50 respectively.
In the women’s category the winner will get $30 while the second and third will get $20 and $10 respectively.

Youngsters that are expected to take part include Kelvin Manyanye, Brian Dziko and Courage Tshuma, all from Exchange Academy.
Harare-based Geshan Nash and Paul Mutizo of  Kings are the veterans expected to feature in the tournaments.

Division One players Ntando Ndlovu, Lisborn Manyange and Martin Chirwa of Fast Cash are also expected to participate in the two tournaments.
