POOL fanatics are in for a treat this afternoon when Gold and Black Sports Club plays host to a Singles Open Pool tournament this afternoon.
Elias Zozolex Mweneziko, a member of the organising team said registration starts at 10am and matches will start at midday. “After seeing that there won’t be any pool activity this weekend, we have decided to sponsor a singles tournament open to everyone. At first we wanted this to be an in-house competition but we realised that we have patrons and other pool lovers who would like to participate in this competition.
“This tournament is open to all pool players around the city, even those who are not affiliated to the league. Registration is $3 and we are also calling on all ladies to come and register,” said Mweneziko.
The winner of the tournament will walk away with a goat and a crate of beer with the first runner-up getting a goat while the person who finishes third will take a crate of beer. The inaugural winner of Umguza Country Rest Camp competition Lamlani Ndlovu of Raylton, Fortune Tavengwa from Gold and Black Club who won last year’s BPL Pre-season tournament, Emmanuel Rwizi, Exchange’s Zaiko Makopa, Entumbane’s Shepherd Mayakayaka and Kings’ Paul Mutizo are some of the tournament’s favourites.
The top women’s players in the city Shylet Musono of Exchange, ONE pair of Precious Mikazhu and Noma Moyo, Kings’ Rebecca Moyo and Noma Manguni of Skittle Inn, Daphne Agere and Susan Chizema, are expected to compete in their category whose winner will get a crate of beer.
