“Our officials are working out to see what caused the problem,” he said.
“The effect of that power swing led to loss of power at Dema Substation and Warren Substation.
“This saw us losing power in the Central Business District and other areas.
“The major effect is that the Hwange Station went down as a result of that and we lost generation at Hwange.”
Mr Gwasira said it would be difficult for Zesa to adhere to the publicised load shedding schedule.
“It is difficult, but at the moment we have managed to restore electricity at some strategic areas and we are restoring units lost in phases,” he said.
“It is our hope that more units will be up for us to return to normal.”
The areas affected by the power loss in Harare included Cranborne, Msasa, Malbereign, Avondale and Malborough.
