Pozee to reclaim kwaito crown

Pozee released Elokitshini last month and it has already found its way into the Power FM Top 20 charts.
Pozee, real name Mbekezeli Mpofu, who is also brother to local songbird Skhululekile Mpofu, says he is working on a new album to be released later this year.
“I am back in the music industry full time after taking a four-year break and I assure you that my album will be released later this year.

“I have realised that no artiste matches my standard and I am working on reclaiming my status,” said the confident kwaito star.
The track Elokitshini which features up and coming star Samazaza is according to him a special tribute to the ghetto youths whom he said were the backbone of his music genre.
Pozee said it took him time to record as he wanted to produce quality for his fans.

“As an established artiste I feel it is important for me to produce quality in order to inspire the young, up and coming artistes who want to venture into the music industry,” said Pozee.
The 26-year-old broke into the music scene when he featured on his equally talented sister’s  album Owami in 2003.

The album proved a success and the young man was inspired to do his own thing.
The following year the kwaito star released tracks such as Hamba nobani, Till the day I die and Kas’ lami, which put him in the limelight and earned him an award.
Pozee who was only 19 at the time, was honoured by the Zimbabwe Music Awards (Zima) as the most promising artiste beating two other contestants, Ngoni Kambarami and Nasty Tricks, who were also tipped for the award.

His manager and producer, Petros “2Nyce” Malemane said local kwaito fans would soon have an opportunity to see Pozee on stage as they had a number of stage performances lined up.
During his stay in South Africa Pozee, also known as Younga 97, had a chance to rub shoulders with renowned artistes such as Brickz, Kabelo, and Skwatta Camp.

He said he was working on featuring one of the artistes on one forthcoming album as he was engaging them.
“I am working on featuring these guys of which I know if the idea sails through my music will certainly rock,” he said.
