PREPARATIONS the Norton Town Council chairman’s sports gala slated for this Saturday are now at an advanced stage.

Speaking at the 295th Norton Town Council Ordinary meeting held last week, committee officer, Mr Leeroy Kaponda said council had budgeted about US$1 500 for the sports festival.

“We have managed to get in touch with all the participating teams and they have submitted the names of players,” he said.

“We have also engaged the community to help us with the event. Some of the communities are supporting us.

“Some have promised to provide water, refreshments and we are still asking for donations.”

Mr Kaponda said they have moved with pace on the preparations.

“The only challenge we are facing is that of a ground, but we are liaising with the participating teams so that we identify a neutral venue,” he said.

Mr Kaponda said Epworth, Chegutu and Redcliff mayors and their town secretaries will be among guests at the festival.
