Preserve gains of the revolution: Msipa

Herald Reporter
ZANU-PF Politburo member and former Midlands Governor Cde Cephas Msipa has urged Zimbabweans to safeguard the nation’s sovereignty and preserve the gains of the revolution.Addressing Zanu-PF supporters at Mutambi in Zvishavane on Sunday, Cde Msipa said President Mugabe alongside other gallant sons and daughters of Zimbabwe gave up their lives to liberate and empower the people.

He said the gains of this protracted struggle for independence must not be thrown down the drain.
“Ndinonzwa kutsamwa nevanhu veMDC vanoda kudzorera zvinhu kumashure. Vanoti chinja, chinja kuchinja chii?

“Our sons and daughters perished during the liberation struggle. They were fighting for the cause of the people. A lot of blood was shed in the struggle for independence. We must not forget that at all,” he said.

Cde Msipa said the two MDC formations were clamouring for regime change that would give away the gains of the revolution.
He said said those who relentlessly fought for independence must not be martyrs of barren hope.

Cde Msipa also accused MDC-T leader, Mr Morgan Tsvangirai of misleading the people by claiming that drought and the decline of food production that have characterised the country for the past decade were caused by the land reform programme.

He said the decline in food production in the country was caused by the change of climate and not land reform as Mr Tsvangirai has claimed.
“Mr Tsvangirai has been telling people that drought in Zimbabwe was an after effect of the land reform programme. Those are lies. Drought is a natural disaster caused by poor rainfall. President Mugabe has no power over nature, he is human just like any of us,” he said.

Cde Msipa also commended President Mugabe for initiating land reform and the indigenisation programmes aimed at economically empowering the people.

He said President Mugabe had also played a significant role in uplifting the Zimbabwean education system.
“President Mugabe has since independence transformed the livelihoods of many Zimbabweans through various empowerment programmes.

“He initiated the land reform and indigenisation programmes that have elevated the lives of many people in the country.
“These programmes have also partially addressed unemployment in the country.

“He also played a significant role in the development of education in the country. Each province now has a State university and Zimbabwe is now ranked number one in Africa in terms of literacy rate,” he said.

Cde Msipa also called on the youth to embrace the empowerment programmes initiated by Zanu-PF as well as voting for the revolutionary party in tomorrow’s harmonised elections.
