“You are my hiding place; You shall preserve me from trouble; You shall surround me with songs of deliverance.” — Psalm 32:7
When God ordains a purpose for your life, He also provides protection for that purpose.
David declares, “You are my hiding place.”
A hiding place is a space of safety, security and divine covering.
It is the sanctuary where God shields His people from every attack that seeks to halt His plan.
Many of us have faced challenges that should have overwhelmed us and some have survived battles they never thought they would overcome.
Yet here we are today — not because of our strength, wisdom or ability, but because God has been our hiding place.
His hand has preserved us, His mercy has sustained us and His grace has carried us.
When David wrote this psalm, he truly understood what it meant to be preserved by God.
David spent years running from King Saul, who sought to kill him. Hunted, rejected and forced to live in caves, David nevertheless remained confident in God.
Why? Because he knew that God’s purpose for his life could not be cancelled by human opposition.
Saul had the army, but David had the promise. Saul had the throne, but David had the anointing.
Every attempt to destroy David failed because God had already determined his future.
When God has spoken over your life, no attack from the enemy can overthrow His purpose.
People may oppose you, circumstances may challenge you and obstacles may arise, but God’s plan will stand.
What God has ordained, He will preserve. That is why our prayer in this season must be, “Father, hide me. Father, preserve me. Father, surround me.”
There are times when God’s greatest blessing is not promotion, but protection. There are moments when God hides us from dangers we cannot see and there are battles He fights on our behalf without us even knowing.
We see this clearly in the life of Moses.
Pharaoh issued a decree ordering every Hebrew baby boy to be killed. The enemy targeted an entire generation, but God had another plan.
Moses was preserved from destruction and hidden by God’s hand. More amazingly, he was raised in Pharaoh’s own house; the very place that represented danger became the venue of preservation.
Only God can do such a thing. The enemy was searching for Moses while Moses was living under his roof.
The God who preserved Moses in the palace of the king is the same God today. He is able to preserve His people in difficult places, protect you in hostile environments and keep you where others expect you to fail.
Perhaps people have written you off or perhaps situations seem designed to work against you.
Do not be discouraged. If God could preserve Moses in Pharaoh’s palace and David in the wilderness, He can certainly preserve you.
The God who called you is faithful to keep you.
David continues, “You shall surround me with songs of deliverance.”
He does not say God will surround him with fear or anxiety, but with songs of deliverance. A song of deliverance is the sound of victory before the battle is over. It is God’s declaration that He remains in total control.
Even when David stood before Goliath, there was already a song of deliverance prepared by God.
Even when Moses stood before the Red Sea with Pharaoh’s army behind him, there was already a song of deliverance waiting on the other side. The God who knows the end from the beginning never panics over what troubles His people.
Therefore, we refuse to align with the language of defeat.
We are not in a season of loss, disappointment or destruction; we are in a season where God is revealing His glory. We may face challenges, but those challenges do not have the final word — God does.
Today, we cancel every appointment with disappointment, shame, failure, discouragement and defeat.
We declare that the purposes of God shall prevail in our lives, the promises of God shall stand and every plan of the enemy shall fail.
The enemy may have a plan, but God has already determined the outcome.
The final word belongs to the Lord.
Child of God, be encouraged today. The same God who preserved Moses from Pharaoh and David from Saul is preserving you. He is your hiding place, He is your defender and He is surrounding you with songs of deliverance.
Walk in faith. Walk in confidence. Walk in expectation. You are preserved for purpose, protected by grace and surrounded by God’s favour.
Your story will not end in defeat, but in glory, because the God who called you is able to keep you. In this season, you are preserved, you are protected and you shall see the goodness and glory of God in the land of the living.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
