PRESIDENT Mugabe arrived in Bulawayo last night ahead of today’s official opening of the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair by his Zambian counterpart Edgar Lungu.President Lungu is expected to arrive in the city this morning.
The President touched down at the Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo International Airport at 8pm accompanied by the First Lady Cde Grace Mugabe, Minister of Welfare Services for the War Veterans, War Collaborators, Former Political Detainees and Restrictees Christopher Mutsvangwa, Minister of Small to Medium Enterprises and Cooperative Development Sithembiso Nyoni, Deputy Minister of Information,Media and Broadcasting Services Monica Mutsvangwa and permanent secretary in the ministry George Charamba.
He was welcomed by Vice Presidents Emmerson Mnangagwa and Phelekezela Mphoko, chief secretary to the President and Cabinet Misheck Sibanda and his deputy Christian Katsande, Bulawayo Provincial Affairs Minister Eunice Nomthandazo Moyo and her Matabeleland South counterpart Abednico Ncube as well as service chiefs.
A total of 19 countries are participating at this year’s premier trade showcase running under the theme “Stimulating Trade, Seizing Opportunities to Accelerate Growth” which dovetails with the country’s economic blueprint, the Zimbabwe Agenda for Sustainable Socio- Economic Transformation.
The two Presidents are expected to tour the stands before the official opening.
