President Mugabe is here on a week-long official visit to meet potential investors.
During the visit, President Mugabe and the First Lady Amai Grace Mugabe will today witness their daughter, Ms Bona Mugabe, graduate with a Bachelor of Accountancy degree at the City University.
President Mugabe yesterday met South Africa’s Consul General to Hong Kong Ms Nomathemba Tambo.
Ms Tambo is the daughter of the late anti-apartheid icon Cde Oliver Tambo.
Speaking to journalists after paying her courtesy call, Ms Tambo said the meeting reminded her of her father, who like Cde Mugabe was a luminary of the liberation struggle African countries waged to free themselves from colonial bondage.
“It’s always an honour to meet President Mugabe, he is such a wise man.
“It’s wonderful to have the opportunity to reminisce with him, to be in the presence of his wisdom,” she said.
Ms Tambo said they discussed the days of the liberation struggle evoking memories of her father
“It was also sad for me because it reminds me of my father. I will tell my children about the meeting. You know wise words, it’s always with him (Cde Mugabe).”
After Hong Kong the President and his delegation will travel to Beijing where they are expected to meet more investors and make follow ups on health and waterworks projects worth a total of US$244 million, the Chinese have pledged to help Zimbabwe with.
Amai Mugabe, Foreign Affairs Minister Simbarashe Mumbengegwi, Agriculture, Mechanisation and Irrigation Development Minister Joseph Made and some senior Government officials are accompanying Cde Mugabe.
