President Mnangagwa has called for improved servant leadership within ZANU PF and Government, saying political stewardship must be measured by tangible improvements in the lives of Zimbabweans.

Addressing the 132nd Ordinary Session of the Zanu PF Central Committee today, President Mnangagwa said the people expect the ruling party to deliver policies that place their welfare at the centre of national development.

“The people expect the Party and its Government to listen, act and deliver,” he said.

“They expect policies that place their welfare at the centre of national development. Above all, they expect us to remain faithful to the values that fuelled our armed liberation struggle on the firm foundation towards our political and economic sovereignty as well as sustainable prosperity for all.

“The confidence in ZANU PF, as reflected through the passing of Constitutional Amendment Act No. 3, is an expression of trust by our members and the people of Zimbabwe at large.”

President Mnangagwa said political leaders should strive to improve people’s livelihoods and create more opportunities.

“We have an obligation to continuously raise the quality of servant leadership, accountability, discipline and integrity, for the betterment of our nation’s governance culture,” he said.

“Our political stewardship must be measured by better livelihoods, expanded opportunities, world-class infrastructure, productive communities and a more secure future for every Zimbabwean in every ward, district and province.”

President Mnangagwa called for greater focus from young people, saying they must understand Zimbabwe’s liberation history and their responsibilities in building the country.

“As we march towards Vision 2030, the party has a duty to ensure that the youth understand where we came from, where we are and where we are going,” he said.

“That way, they will not only recognise the responsibilities that come with the freedom and independence which anchor our sovereignty, but also their roles and duties to build, modernise and industrialise Zimbabwe.”
