President Mnangagwa has today officially opened Great Zimbabwe University Innovation Hub as institutions of higher learning continue to entrench the heritage-based Education 5.0 model aimed at producing goods and services which seek to modernise and industrialise the economy.

The Head of State and Government who is Chancellor of all State universities opened the Innovation Hub soon after presiding over the 17th graduation ceremony at GZU main campus in Masvingo held under the theme “Leveraging Cultural Heritage for Industrialisation”.

In his keynote address, President Mnangagwa challenged GZU to ensure that innovative and talented young people in and around Masvingo have access to the Innovation Hub.

“In line with the spirit of inclusivity and leaving no one and no place behind, coupled with the community engagement mandate of the university, I exhort GZU to ensure that innovative and talented young boys and girls, in and around Masvingo province also have access to the Innovation hub. The products and inventions must be commercialised for the benefit of all Zimbabweans,” said President Mnangagwa.

“Similarly, I call upon the private sector and development agencies to partner with the university to accelerate the commercialisation and adoption of inventions and products from innovators.”
