President Mnangagwa consoles Hwata family

PRESIDENT Mnangagwa has sent his condolences to the Hwata family following the death of Chief Hwata.

Born Maxwell Dzapasi, Chief Hwata died on Saturday at his rural home in Muzarabani.

He was 87.

In his condolence message, President Mnangagwa paid tribute to Chief Hwata for championing the promotion and preservation of cultural heritage in his jurisdiction.

The President said throughout his 49 years of leadership, Chief Hwata presided over his court with a unique sense of wisdom and justice.

“He will be sorely missed by his subjects,” said President Mnangagwa.

“On behalf of Government and the people of Zimbabwe, my family, and indeed on my own behalf, I wish to convey my heartfelt condolences to the Hwata clan, especially to the bereaved widows, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. May they take comfort from the knowledge that we mourn with them during their darkest hour of grief.”

He was appointed chief in 1972.
