President Mnangagwa emphasises importance of trees as he launches tree planting initiative

Famona, Bulawayo, Zimbabwe — President Emmerson Mnangagwa delivered a powerful message today, stating that “trees are life” and highlighting their vital role in contributing to the air we breathe.

His remarks came during a tree planting ceremony aimed at raising awareness about deforestation and its impact on the environment.

The First Lady, Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa, echoed this sentiment, expressing concern over the alarming rates of deforestation being recorded across the country.

She urged citizens to actively participate in tree planting efforts, emphasising that these initiatives will extend to areas where significant deforestation has occurred.

Together, the President and First Lady underscored the necessity of restoring Zimbabwe’s forests and promoting sustainable practices to protect the environment for future generations. Their call to action aims to mobilize community involvement in addressing environmental challenges and fostering a culture of conservation throughout the nation.
