PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa today gifted junior parliamentarians in Manicaland with electronic tablets – marking a significant milestone in equipping young leaders with digital tools that enhance learning, innovation, and leadership.
At the handover ceremony, Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Advocate Misheck Mugadza said the initiative symbolised empowerment, opportunity, and inclusion in the global digital revolution.
“This moment goes beyond the handover of devices; it is a handover of opportunity and empowerment, a bold step towards ensuring our young leaders are equipped with the necessary tools to thrive in a rapidly changing digital world,” said Minister Mugadza.
He noted that the tablets were not merely gadgets but instruments of access to knowledge, innovation, communication, and creativity, enabling the youth to contribute meaningfully to national development.
“You are not only the leaders of tomorrow, but leaders of today. Utilise these devices to research, propose solutions, and participate actively in national discourses. His Excellency, the President, has entrusted you with the responsibility to plan and secure the future,” he said.
Minister Mugadza commended President Mnangagwa for being a listening leader who continues to invest in youth empowerment through programmes such as the Digital Skills Development Programme.
He urged the recipients to use the gadgets responsibly, adding that parents, teachers, and guardians should ensure responsible use.
Provincial Education Director (PED), Mr Richard Gabaza applauded the President’s generosity, saying the gesture would strengthen the learning capacity and digital literacy of junior parliamentarians.
“This support demonstrates the Government’s commitment to building a tech-savvy generation capable of leading with knowledge and confidence,” he said.
Junior Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Aldermane Makoni said the tablets would help bridge the digital gap between rural and urban learners.
“These devices will make it easier for us to research and communicate, allowing us to connect with peers and communities across Zimbabwe,” she said.
