President Mnangagwa will today preside over the 18th graduation ceremony of Great Zimbabwe University (GZU) at the university’s main campus in Masvingo.
A total of 4 465 graduands will be capped, with 2,849 females and 1,616 males celebrating their academic achievements.
The ceremony reflects the university’s commitment to promoting higher education in Zimbabwe, contributing to the nation’s workforce and development. The graduands represent a diverse range of fields, with notable statistics by school:
Gary Magadzire School of Agriculture and Engineering: 73 graduands
Julius Nyerere School of Social Sciences: 1 034 graduands
Herbert Chitepo School of Law and Business Sciences: 1 476 graduands
Robert Gabriel Mugabe School of Heritage and Education: 1 710 graduands
School of Natural Sciences: 172 graduands
As the keynote speaker, President Mnangagwa is expected to address the importance of education in fostering economic growth and national development, encouraging graduates to leverage their skills for the betterment of society.
This graduation ceremony not only celebrates individual accomplishments but also highlights GZU’s role in advancing Education 5.0, a framework aimed at integrating teaching, research, and community engagement for sustainable development in Zimbabwe.
