President Mnangagwa, accompanied by Vice President Kembo Mohadi, on Thursday, toured the Geo Pomona Waste Management exhibition stand at the 4th Edition of the Councillors Indaba 2025, where he was presented with 3D visualisations of the company’s flagship waste-to-energy facility currently under development in Pomona, Harare.
Geo Pomona Waste Management, one of the key private exhibitors at the high-level gathering, showcased its innovative approach to modern waste management and energy recovery.
The exhibition highlighted how the facility, once complete, will contribute to transforming Harare’s waste challenges into sustainable energy solutions.

The Councillors Indaba, presided over this year by President Mnangagwa, brings together councillors and senior local government officials from across Zimbabwe to discuss development strategies, service delivery, and governance improvements at the municipal level.
“We are honoured to be part of this important platform that promotes collaboration between local authorities and private stakeholders,” said Geo Pomona in a statement.
“Our goal is to expand our operations beyond Harare and work with councils across the country to introduce smart, clean and efficient waste management systems.”

The company expressed optimism about engaging various municipalities during the indaba to explore future partnerships aimed at replicating the Pomona model in other towns and cities nationwide.
President Mnangagwa’s visit to the exhibition stand underscored the Government’s recognition of public-private partnerships as key to improving service delivery and fostering innovation in urban development.
