PRESIDENT Mnangagwa is expected to launch the Presidential Solarisation Project in Bulilima District, Matabeleland South province.
The national launch will be held in the coming weeks at Ntunungwe village under Ward 17 where 50 homesteads will be the first beneficiaries.
Work is underway to install the 1KV solar power system.

The project set to run for six years is set to benefit 1,2 million homesteads countrywide, with about 200000 beneficiaries for Matabeleland South province. About 29 000 beneficiaries per district will benefit in the Rainbow Province.
Last year in August, Cabinet approved the Presidential Solarisation Project, which seeks to promote the rural industrialisation development agenda by expanding solar-powered infrastructure.
Speaking during a post-Cabinet media briefing, Information, Publicity and
Broadcasting Services Minister Jenfan Muswere said other benefits of the project included piped water systems, nutrition gardening, livestock watering and household usage of power.
He said each rural household would be equipped with a solar system which would power electrical appliances, while the solar-powered water systems would use a submersible pump that would enhance agricultural productivity and food security.
The system will be installed in remote locations that do not require considerable grid.
Matabeleland South Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Cde Albert Nguluvhe confirmed the development, noting that the national launch is a win for the province.
“The President’s mantra is being implemented everywhere that leaving no place or no one behind. The programme is a great programme for the province. People’s lifestyle will improve,” said Minister Nguluvhe.
