Top officials attend ceremony
Cabinet Ministers, legislators, diplomats accredited to Zimbabwe and captains of industry, particularly in the tobacco value chain, have arrived for the commissioning ceremony.

President Mnangagwa has arrived at the Cut Rag Processing plant in Lochinvar, Harare, where he will commission the multi-million dollar plant
He is accompanied by Vice President, Dr Constantino Chiwenga, Cabinet Ministers and other senior Government officials.

A briefing to deliver an overview of the plant has been completed, and he is now touring the project.

Multi-million tobacco plant to drive value addition
The opening of Cut Rag Processing (Pvt) Ltd is expected to strengthen Harare’s value-addition thrust and enhance its contribution to the national gross domestic product.
Harare Metropolitan Province Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Senator Charles Tawengwa said the capital already contributes 22.69 percent to the national GDP, placing it as the leading contributor.
He noted that the establishment of the multi-million-dollar processing plant further consolidates Harare’s position in national development.

The minister said the confidence shown by Cut Rag Processing (Pvt) Ltd in investing in the capital and commended stakeholders whose efforts continue to drive national development.
He reaffirmed Harare’s commitment to supporting investments that advance economic growth and uplift the national GDP.
Cut Rag commits to value addition
Cut Rag Processing (Pvt) Ltd general manager Mr Leslie Malunga reaffirmed the company’s dedication to value addition within the tobacco sector.
He highlighted plans to boost capacity through improved technology and indicated the company’s ongoing commitment to smart agricultural practices.
