Gospel diva, Primrose Cement who has been shy off the limelight for years owing to a myriad of problems is back in the showbiz industry with a bag full of surprises.
Cement who took a five-year sabbatical break because of her son’s health problems since 2011, last had a stint with a mic in 2010. However, she made her presence felt this year with the release of her 12th album titled “Tendeukai Nzvimbo Ichiripo” end of June. In an interview with this publication, Cement said all was not well.
“Things have not been well for me, I experienced a lot of challenges chief among them being the ill-health of my son. He had a breathing problem since 2011 until 2015 and that kept me busy such that I could not have time to go in the studio to record,” said Cement.
“Many people would think that I was silent for all that time, but I was busy writing songs. My last album was in 2010. I had a recording contract with Ngaavongwe Records which lapsed in 2013, the time I was attending to my son, but for now I am back for good.
“When his condition improved, I went to record my album and released it end of June this year, a product of Lyton Ngolomi (Lyt-on Studios). It is a powerful album indeed and I have even sold a number of copies.”
The album which was done in different languages to capture many is in Shona, English and Shona. It aspires to encourage Christians and those who are yet still in the know to seek Christ for time is still there.
“The message on this album is to inform people of the second-coming of Christ and serves to remind them to be prepared. The time s where mentioned in the bible that many things will take place like the mushrooming of false prophets, landslides and even miracles.”
Cement said she could not do an official launch for the album, but plans are afoot to work on another before year end.
“The official launch was supposed to be there but it never happened as I expected because the album took time to release. I want to record another before the end of the year because I have been quite for some time.
“I will launch the forth-coming album which am planning to name ‘Ndinomutenda Jesu’. On this album am looking forward to do a number of collaborations with many artists,” she said.
