A 38-year-old prisoner at Harare Central Prison appeared in court last Thursday for allegedly sodomising his cell mate. Clayton Motsi was charged with aggravated indecent assault when he appeared before magistrate Mrs Sandra Mpindu. The matter was deferred to November 20 for trial.Allegations were that on September 22 this year, Motsi was sleeping in the same cell with Gift Muchemwa (27). The court heard that Muchemwa woke up at around 3am and discovered that Motsi had lowered his shorts and pants and was sodomising him. It is alleged that upon being caught, Motsi begged Muchemwa to keep quiet and ensure that their fellow cell mate Prayer Sigauke could not hear what was happening.

Muchemwa allegedly grabbed Motsi’s manhood and started shouting for help prompting Sigauke to wake up. Motsi allegedly approached Sigauke and asked him to apologise to Muchemwa on his behalf. The court heard that Muchemwa reported the matter to prison officials and he was taken to the prison’s clinic for treatment.
