Prison warden ordered to pay US$60, $60k maintenance

A PRISON warden has been hauled to court by his ex-wife who was demanding $100 000 and US$100 in child support.

Shadrack Mapfumo offered to pay $60 000 to his ex-wife, Nyarai Mapfumo.

“I’m currently married, Your Worship, and my wife and l are expecting a child, and Nyarai wants to take all my money.

“I’m also paying maintenance for my other child and didn’t get any salary increment.

“l even gave her the house so that she has a place to stay with the kids, while l pay US$170 rent where I stay,” he said.

Nyarai disputed Shadrack’s account saying he didn’t have any other child or wife that she knows of.

“He has even refused to sign divorce papers.

“I don’t know why he is doing this to me. He is lying that he pays rentals,” she said.

Magistrate Sharon Mashavira ordered Shadrack to pay $60 000 and US$60 maintenance.
