ZIMBABWE Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS) Commissioner-General, Moses Chihobvu, has hit out at corruption and trafficking.
He was officiating at the graduation of staffers in a Management and Leadership Development Course in Corrections in Harare yesterday.
A total of 49 officers, comprising 18 women and 31 men, completed the course.
“Allow me to take this opportunity to warn you against being involved in trafficking and corruption,” he said.
“These insidious plagues have a wide range of corrosive effects on the organisation, ranging from eroding the quality of life of inmates, to violation of basic human rights among others.”
He said training was important to keep the prison staffers updated of the changing times.
“It is also no surprise that employees who get regular opportunities to learn, develop and advance are more likely to stay with an organisation.
“It should be noted that staff development helps us become better versions of ourselves and broadens our scope,” he said.
