MASHONALAND West Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister, Mary Mliswa-Chikoka, has urged health institutions in her province to put donated ambulances to good use.
Minister Mliswa-Chikoka said this yesterday during a handover ceremony of four ambulances to Mhondoro-Ngezi, Siakobvu, Makonde districts and Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital.
““I wish to categorically state to the beneficiaries that these ambulances must be put to good use.
“They are meant for the patients and not for undertaking private deals.
“These are not personal vehicles, but are there to serve communities,” she said.
Minister Mliswa-Chikoka said there was a need to put in place mechanisms to monitor vehicle usage.
She hailed the Government for its commitment towards changing people’s lives.
Chinhoyi provincial medical superintendent, Dr Collet Mawire, said the donated ambulances were a game-changer in delivering health services in Mashonaland West.
“The ambulances have got state-of-the-art equipment. It’s more like a mobile intensive care unit,” said Dr Mawire.
