ZIMBABWE Prisons and Correctional Services (ZPCS) Midlands Region have started preparations for their provincial sports gala slated for June 25 in Gweru.
Gweru-based property development firm Zimbuild Properties will sponsor this year’s gala to the tune of $30,000.
ZPCS Midlands spokesperson Stanlys Sanike said the gala would be used to select a team to represent the province at the Commissioner General’s sports gala later in the year.
“We have identified the venues for the games and our officers and members will be competing in different sporting disciplines such as athletics, football, netball, darts, pool and volleyball. As ZPCS, we are grateful to Zimbuild Properties for bankrolling our games,” said Sanike.
Zimbuild’s sponsorship package comprises prize money, trophies, medals, sports regalia, food and three residential stands through a raffle draw during the games.
Tinashe Manzungu from Zimbuild said the sponsorship was part of their corporate social responsibility programme and plans were afoot to partner other uniformed forces, the police and army.
“We are proud to be sponsoring the ZPCS sports gala as a way of giving back to the community.
“They form the core of our clients so this is our own way of saying thank you for continuing supporting us,” Manzungu said.
