Pro debut for golfers

Net*One series at Bulawayo Golf Club on Thursday.
The golfers are the only two who have graduated to professional ranks so far this season after spending last year in the amateur ranks.

The duo is confident that they can live up to expectations and feels they are capable of playing well on a good day.
Howie, who was the first to turn professional after leading the national team to second place in Zone Six, believes that this is the platform where he can showcase his talent.

“There is no pressure on my side and I just need to play my normal game, as there is nothing much that has changed.
“The only difference is that I will be playing with competitive golfers, some of who inspired me to reach this level.

“Bulawayo is a difficult course but I will be happy to play well and announce my arrival on the professional scene on a high note,” Howie said.
The Chapman golfers will have to see off the challenge of seasoned campaigners like Tongoona Charamba, Robson Saurombe, Ignatius Mketekete and several others.

For Muyambo it will be another chance to see where he stands.
Last year saw Nyasha played in the same Zimbabwe Open tournament with his father Day at Royal Harare and they managed to play well.

The golfer had to turn professional after several months of indecision and he believes the step he has taken is the best thing to happen in his promising career.
Muyambo captained the national team in the last Eisenhower Trophy in Buenos Aires, Argentina, last year and he believes his game is improving with each passing day.

“I think I will be ready for the challenge I have played with most of the golfers and I learnt a thing or two from them.
“There is still room for improving and I look forward to the game as it will mark my arrival on the professional scene.

“I do not need to pressurise myself as there are several games which I will take part in but this tournament should work as a yardstick for me.
“Playing in the professional ranks is every golfer’s dream and this will make me grow in the sport so I can say I am prepared for the game,” Muyambo said.
