Ann Ruthenburg
HELLO there folks, I hope all is well. This week I received a message from a lady as follows: Hie, my name is Chantel and I have got a problem of blemishes all over my body. Can you please help on how I can remove them?Thank you Chantel for your question and the photo you sent. I am pleased to say though that these are not blemishes on your face and your body. These are what we call freckles. Freckles have been widely known to be found only on redhead people (usually of European decent). However, this has been proven not to be true and many Africans and mixed race people have freckles, even though they may mistake them for blemishes. It is, however, interesting to note that Africans with blemishes may sometimes have ginger or light coloured hair roots as children.
Unfortunately people with freckles come under a lot of criticism especially when they are kids because people cannot see past the freckles to the beauty. Also people who do not know freckles, will mistake them for spots and our communities do not take kindly to spots. This unfortunately can cause the person with freckles to become insecure and to look down on themselves. If you are one of these people, I am sorry you have had to go through criticism, but inevitably you have to love yourself before others can love you dear. Once you get to love yourself, others will have to love you too.
So to answer your question dear. . .
You cannot get rid of most of them unfortunately these are a part of who you are. However they can be lightened. It is interesting to note that freckles multiply when you go in the sun, yet they lighten and lesson in winter. So it is highly advisable for you to use a SPF Sunscreen.
You may have noticed by now also that you do not have to wear a ton of makeup – unless you really want to cover up your freckles! Typically, all you need is a little concealer on some of the freckles and then you are good to go! People with freckles have beautiful skin naturally and fall on the attractive side, no matter what race they are! So my dear you really are lucky whether you think so or not.
One thing about these little brown dots as I said before is that they fade in the winter. Freckles love the sun and they actually get darker in the sun light. So in the winter, when there isn’t a lot of sun light, don’t be surprised if you can’t see many of them. I would strongly suggest you wear a sun hat whenever you go out in the sun. Your arms and face will especially be affected by these freckles in summer.
Remember, how I mentioned that freckles don’t just happen on redheads? Well, freckles can’t just happen on anyone either. You have to have light skin or skin that is more prone to sun damage. Those with darker skin, typically cannot get freckles and are not as prone to sun damage. Strange, right?
Finally my dear you will be pleased to know that there is a miracle product that can lighten them – Lemon. . .but it takes a while. Lemon juice is something that has always worked to lighten up a bit of freckles. But lemon will also dry up your skin, so you have to decide what you want. There are also more extreme measures you can take, such as getting laser treatment, which is costly and painful, but it works. Whether you believe it or not my dear, freckled people really have a natural unique look or beauty that the rest of us have to work hard to get. You need to start looking at yourself differently. You need to start appreciating how you look my dear and not be so critical about your spots. Just looking at your picture I can see that you are a good looking woman and you do not even have makeup. Another thing with freckled people is that they tend to have a lighter eye colour, just like yours which are hazel. Some have green or blue eyes. So you have so much beauty that can work in your favour my dear so use it in your favour.
That is it from me this week folks. Until next week God bless!
