Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion Minister Professor Mthuli Ncube is leading Zimbabwe’s delegation to the 2026 World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, as the country intensifies efforts to position itself as a competitive, growth-oriented destination for global capital.
This year’s Forum convenes under the theme “A Time for Dialogue,” reflecting the growing urgency for constructive engagement between political leaders and the private sector amid persistent global economic tensions.

In a statement, the ministry said: “Hon Prof Mthuli Ncube is leading Zimbabwe’s delegation to the 2026 World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, positioning the country at the centre of high-level global economic dialogue.”
The Minister, together with Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister Professor Dr Amon Murwira, held a team briefing meeting with officials from the two ministries ahead of the high-level engagements.
“The Hon. Minister, together with his Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade counterpart, Prof Dr Amon Murwira, had a team briefing meeting with officials from the two ministries before joining fellow world leaders in deliberations.”
The 2026 edition has attracted one of the largest and most diverse gatherings in the Forum’s history, with strong representation from emerging economies.
“Attendance has surged, with the Global South registering its strongest presence to date as it asserts a more influential role in shaping global policy.”
“This year’s gathering includes approximately 65 heads of state and government, among them: US President Donald Trump; six G7 leaders; 400 senior political leaders from over 130 countries; 850 global CEOs and board chairs, one of the Forum’s largest business turnouts; nearly 100 unicorn founders and technology pioneers, underscoring the Forum’s strong emphasis on AI and innovation. Zimbabwe’s participation is strategically focused on advancing the national investment agenda.”
Zimbabwe’s delegation is using the global platform to promote investment opportunities anchored on value addition, beneficiation, and industrial transformation, in line with the country’s development priorities.
“The delegation is promoting Zimbabwe as a competitive, growth-oriented destination for global capital, highlighting opportunities in value addition, beneficiation, technology transfer, and employment creation.”
Prof Ncube’s participation also signals Zimbabwe’s determination to deepen engagement with international financial institutions and global investors, while contributing to debates on reforming the global economic architecture.
“Prof Ncube’s presence reinforces Zimbabwe’s drive to enhance investment visibility, deepen engagement with international financial institutions, and contribute meaningfully to global discussions on economic reform.”
At the same time, the Minister continues to push for a fairer global financial system that places Africa at the centre of global economic decision-making.
“He continues to advocate for a restructured global financial system that recognises Africa as a central economic actor that needs to be treated as an equal partner in shaping global economic governance.”
