Great Zimbabwe University (GZU) Vice Chancellor Professor Rungano Zvobgo has mourned two students who died in a road accident yesterday while travelling to their graduation.

The pair died in a road accident along the Harare-Masvingo highway where they were supposed to be among the 3496 graduands at GZU’s graduation ceremony today.

In his welcome speech at the graduation ceremony this afternoon, Prof Zvobgo told graduands and guests, including the institution’s Chancellor President Mnangagwa, that the accident had robbed the institution and the nation of young heroes who were just starting their journeys.

Those in attendance observed a moment of silence for Tatenda Gandu and Maxwell Katsvara who perished in the road accident.

Prof Zvobgo said the death of the duo brought to three the total number of students graduating posthumously at this year’s ceremony.
