Promising year for fashion designers

2017 is promising to be an eventful year for some of Bulawayo’s fashion designers, with some already receiving requests and invitations to showcase their couture at one of South Africa’s esteem fashion events.

House of W.A.L run by Cleedon Lotriet of Clix Clothing and Chantal Fraser of Chante Clothing have been invited to showcase at the Mpumalanga Fashion week in Kwazulu Natal.

Lotriet, who spoke to Sunday Life on behalf of House of W.A.L said they were extremely humbled and excited to have been invited to showcase in South Africa.

“This just goes to show that we are working hard towards promoting local fashion.

“Now it has been noticed internationally and who knows where we are headed? All this is because of the almighty, whom we are grateful to,” said Lotriet.

He said they were added to a group chat by a South African organiser of the show, who then extended an invitation to them to showcase at the fashion shindig, after they held a fashion show in Bulawayo last year, launching their label — House of W.A.L.

The South African fashion extravaganza will be held on 25 February this year, where a number of South African and other African fashion designers will showcase their latest trends and couture.
