MUSIC promoter, Tawanda “Cheesebouy” Mugauri, who has been operating in South Africa is now back in Zimbabwe.

“I left SA because I felt like I could do better in Zimbabwe. I am home now and it feels so good to be reunited with fans, friends and artists after spending years in South Africa.

“Being a music promoter is something in my heart, so I will never stop doing what I like best despite the challenges that we face in music circles,” he said. “I am planning to start promoting music here in Zimbabwe. I am going to hold my first show in the first week of March in Mabvuku.

“I also want to open a studio in Mabvuku to mainly promote artists from here where I was born and bred.”

Cheesebouy also told H-Metro that he is currently handling Lady Squanda’s musical affairs.

“Right now, I am working as Lady Squanda’s manager. I started working with her at the end of last year. So far we are working on an EP at Military Touch Movement Studio.

“On this EP, we are going to have some collaborations, including with HKD boss, Freeman.

“We have released two singles so far titled Boiling point and Bvukeza, which are already doing well in the music market. Lady Squanda has also put her voice in DJ Fydale’s Riddim called Heart Emotions dubbed Mukadzi haasi mutadzi and we have other songs which will hit the market this month with visuals to complement the audios,” he said.

Cheesebouy said financial constraints are the only obstacles to his vision. “The biggest challenge I am facing right now is financial challenge since I haven’t yet settled.

“On working on Lady Squanda’s videos we need money to do them. I am trying to source something from sponsors because I am confident these songs will be hits. We have several songs which can touch and strengthen hearts of many during these trying times. The response we are getting are overwhelming. We are also working on anti-drug abuse campaigns with Lady Squanda where we are encouraging youths to abstain from drug abuse,” he said.

Asked if Lady Squanda is the appropriate candidate to campaign against drugs since she is often accused of taking drugs, he said: “She always denies taking drugs. She knows the dangers of drugs in the line of her work and for ghetto youths.”

Lady Squanda confirmed working with Cheesebouy and promised more music to defend her legacy.

“I can confirm Cheesebouy is my manager. He has been helping me behind the scenes from way back.

“I am the dancehall queen, so more music is coming to preserve that crown,” she said.
