A Mutare self-proclaimed prophet was caught red-handed with a married woman on her matrimonial bed.

The woman’s husband, Richard Munhukamwe, was tipped by neighbours that his wife was entertaining another man in his house in Chikanga and returned home from work earlier than usual.

Munhukamwe found his wife Chipo Mawire in bed and enjoying the forbidden fruit with the prophet, Mike Maburure.

Maburuke had been claiming that he was offering Mawire some spiritual guidance.

Munhukamwe pummeled the man of cloth.

When The Weekender dashed to the scene, the crowd had already dispersed, but a few curious onlookers were still milling around the busy road, popularly known as ‘Kuright turn’, just after Spar Business Centre.

Interviewed witnesses claimed that Maburure received an avalanche of blows from the furious Munhukamwe.

Maburure, popularly known as Madzibaba Joseph, has been plying his trade from a house in Chikanga Phase Two for about a month.

Munhukamwe’s neighbour, Rufaro Chimera, said they were walking along the busy street when they saw Madzibaba Joseph bolting out of Munhukamwe’s house.

He was donning his white garment and flying like a saucer.

“We gathered that neighbours heard Madzibaba and Mawire bathing together in the bathing room. The husband’s friends called him and informed him what was happening at home. The husband did not take time to arrive and got the shock of his life as the two were being intimate.

“We later saw Madzibaba Joseph flying out of the house while trying to adjust his white garment. The mob joined in because we had heard rumours for weeks that Madzibaba had been bedding married women in the area under the guise of spiritually helping them.

“He first takes a bath with his victims and then prays for them, which is very suspicious. I know someone who refused to take up his offer after she was told that they had to bath together for the anointed water he had given her to work,” said Chimers.

Contacted for comment, Munhukamwe refused to disclose any information and questioned the reporters on who had informed them of the development.

“I do not want to talk to the Press. What you have heard is what happened, I cannot add more,” said Munhukamwe.

Claims were that he had sent Mawire.

Another neighbour, Gogo Moyo said everyone knew that Madzibaba Joseph was sleeping with married women.

“We knew this was happening. It is really sad. He would say he could help them, but would instead trick them into sleeping with him.

“I heard that Munhukamwe has kicked out his wife. It should be a lesson to all women to never fool around with these wannabe prophets,” said Gogo Moyo.

Madzibaba Joseph’s former client, Irene Mutomba told The Weekender that she suspected that the man of cloth wanted to sleep with her when he said his prayer sessions involved the two of them taking a bath together.

“I had gone to him for his services. Madzibaba Joseph gave me anointed water. However, he told me that I had to bath with it first. He said he would help me during the bathing session.

“When I expressed my reservations he said we would bath with our clothes on and I refused. I did not think that was appropriate, but truth be told, a lot of women consulted him. There were long queues at his shrine and they were all women,” said Mutomba.

The Weekender spent an hour waiting for Madzibaba Joseph at his shrine but he never turned up.
Incessant efforts to contact him on his mobile phone proved fruitless.
