Prophet Walter Magaya has revealed why DStv has closed his channel Yadah TV after 8 years on the platform.
On Friday, DStv announced to its subscribers that Yadah TV would be shutting down on January 31, 2025, after seven years on the platform.
In a brief message, DStv informed viewers:
“Dear Viewer, please note that YADAH TV is closing on the 31st Jan 2025. Thank you for watching.”
While DStv did not disclose why it was closing Yadah TV, several Zimbabweans speculated that the decision had something to do with the alleged fake University of South Africa (UNISA) qualifications scandal that Prophet Walter Magaya is entangled in.
On Friday morning, Magaya set the record straight on why DStv was closing Yadah TV.
Magaya clarified that Yadah TV’s departure from DStv had nothing to do with the controversy surrounding his qualifications. Instead, he revealed that the channel’s 8-year contract with DStv had simply expired and was not renewed.
Despite this change, Magaya assured his followers that Yadah TV is not shutting down entirely. The channel will remain available for free on ViewSat and the Yadah TV mobile app.
“As our 8-year contract comes to an end on 31 January 2025, we would like to thank you for a great partnership. We have been providing you with content and you have given us an amazing platform. To all Partners of Yadah TV, our free-to-air channel is still available and you can also access Yadah TV on our mobile app,” the message shared on his official Facebook account reads.
