‘Prophet’ on the run after US$24 000 botched car deals

Investigations have revealed that Gombera fled to Botswana at that time before he fled to an unknown destination after discovering that police in that country wanted to arrest him.
Sources close to the matter confirmed that Gombera was wanted in Botswana for smuggling cars.
Details of how he smuggled cars from Botswana and the number of vehicles smuggled could not be established. According to police, Gombera is said to have received different types of cars from clients to sell on their behalf but would convert the money to his personal use.
He is said to have disappeared from his house upon the discovery of the offence. His last known address was Number 11015 Budiriro 5A.
In one of the cases, it is alleged Gombera was given a Toyota Hiace to sell for US$8 700 and did not give the client her money. In another case, he sold a Mitsubishi Chariot belonging to Mr Amos Mupuri for US$4 500 but disappeared with the money.
Gombera also got away with a Pulsar and US$4 000 belonging to Takesure Karenyu in a trade-in deal.
Police said Gombera also sold a Toyota Hiace belonging to Mr Joseph Bernard and pocketed the money.
Some of the complainants tried to locate him but failed and a report was made to the police.
His whereabouts are still not known and the Harare Commercial Crime Unit is appealing for anyone with information that can lead to his arrest to contact Constable Mabwe on 0772 309 508 or 04-748836 or any nearest police station.
