PROSECUTOR General Justice Loyce Matanda-Moyo and senior public prosecutors from across the country’s provinces today signed the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) integrity pledges, as part of her department’s commitment to combat corruption within public institutions.
The signing ceremony was held at the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) offices in Harare, where a team from ZACC led by Commissioner Chido Madiwa conducted the process.
In her remarks, Justice Matanda-Moyo emphasised the need for public prosecutors to live within the realm of serving justice fairly and decisively.
“It should be a commitment to national interest, and therefore, the fight against corruption is not just a shared responsibility,” she said.
“It is a defining battle for the soul of our nation and it is a battle we as the custodians of justice must unequivocally win for the betterment of every Zimbabwean citizen. As an institution, the National Prosecuting Authority stands at the vanguard of ensuring justice. We are entrusted with a sacred, solemn duty to prosecute corruption cases and guard against corruption with unwavering fairness, unyielding diligence and absolute impartiality, without fear or favour, regardless of who stands accused.
“This weighty mandate includes watching ourselves and committing ourselves to the highest standards of integrity.”
ZACC Commissioner Ms Madiwa said the signing of integrity pledges by servants of justice is a profound demonstration of their commitment to the highest standards of public service to a corruption- and crime-free society.
“It signifies their unwavering dedication to the principles of transparency, accountability and ethical conduct that form the bedrock of the achievement of zero tolerance to corruption,” she said
