A HARARE woman says she is living in fear of her husband, who has developed a habit of locking the family outside their house.
Stella Kakondowe said she was being physically abused, insulted and threatened to force her to leave her matrimonial home by Hermirish Sangana.
She opened up at the Harare Civil Court, where she applied for a protection order, against Hermirish.
Magistrate Sharon Mashavire presided over the matter.
During the hearing, Stella said:
“He beats me up, chases me away from our matrimonial home, along with my kids, saying that he no longer wants to see anyone in his house.”
In response, Sangana denied the allegations.
“She lies about me beating her up but, yes, we do argue, as married people.
“Whenever, I try to warn her about something, she raises her voice and packs her clothes, leaving me with the children all by myself.
“I once stayed with the kids for one-and-half weeks, when I got from work, she was nowhere to be seen.
“I agree that I might have insulted her during our arguments, but I have never threatened her to leave the house,” he said.
Magistrate Mashavire granted the protection in Stella’s favour.
She urged Sangana not to evict his wife from the house and rather learn to resolve their disputes amicably.
