IT’S called the Ziva Mwari Congregation Church (ZMCC).
One hour is dedicated to worshipping and the rest to beer drinking.
They even have a heart for the poor and suffering and have donated some goodies to the Masembura Orphanage Centre in Bindura.
The ‘church’, which has its headquarters at Trojan Mine, is for people who commit themselves to an hour of worship and the rest for beer drinking.
It was launched a few weeks ago and now it has more than 100 devoted members.
They meet every Sunday between 9-10 am at a neglected bar in their area.
During their time of worship, no drinking and smoking, is allowed.
They are working towards launching another chapter in Shurugwi.
Richard Twabi, the pioneer, spoke to H-Metro.
“We have a different approach altogether,” he said.
“As ZMCC, we want the society to understand that it’s not all about beer and smoking, we are also responsible.
“Despite the fact that we drink beer, we are a loving and caring community, which also feels for others.”
Twabi hailed the Trojan community who came on board to contribute towards their donation.
The congregation donated clothes, bags of maize, sanitary wear and various foodstuffs.
“Thanks to the mine people for understanding the plight of those who deserve help and helping us to reach out to the less privileged,” he said.
ZMCC has also committed itself to paying school fees for some kids, at the orphanage, from their church offerings.
“We also pledged to repair a leaking Jojo tank, paint the dining room and also clean up the centre,” Twabi said.
The ‘church’ members also promised to visit those behind bars at Bindura Prison where they will preach the gospel to help them reform.
Prosper Maponga, who is behind the Masembura Orphanage, said the help came at the right time.
“The church just showed some interest in helping the orphanage and we welcomed them.
“From what I see, vanoda kushumira nemabasa akanaka kwete kungonamata chete asi kuita zvakanaka,” Maponga said.
