A HARARE woman approached the court seeking a protection order against her husband, who physically and verbally abuses her.
Cynthia Kamana told the court that her husband, Lesly Rasiteni, had made her a laughing stock in their community.
Magistrate Judith Taruvinga granted the protection order to Kamana.
“He last abused me on November 25 after returning home late at night.
“I told him not to come home late at night, and he started beating me up and insulting me. He told me that I am not special because there are other women more beautiful than me,” she said.
Kamana pleaded with the court to protect her.
“I want the court to protect me because I do not feel safe anymore. I do not know what he might end up doing to me next,” she said.
Rasiteni apologised and promised not to assault his wife.
“What she is saying is true and I did that due to emotions. That will not happen again,” he said.
But the magistrate was not buying Rasiteni’s fake remorse and ordered him not to insult or assault his wife.
