Province recommends Chiyangwa’s readmission

disciplinary committee of the party’s Politburo to consider re-admitting businessman Cde Phillip Chiyangwa into the party as an ordinary card carrying member.
Cde Chiyangwa, the former Mashonaland West Provincial chairman, left the party six years ago after he was implicated in an espionage case.
The implication was never substantiated.
Zanu-PF secretary for administration Cde Didymus Mutasa recently wrote to the party’s political commissar Cde Webster Shamu over the re-admission of Cde Chiyangwa.
In the letter dated April 29, 2011, Cde Mutasa said the case of the former Chinhoyi Member of Parliament has been sitting for a long time and there was no need to bar him from taking an active role in the party.
“The case of Cde Chiyangwa has been sitting on our files for more than five years since 2005.
“Is there a good reason why he should not be readmitted into the party?
“We appear to be treating him unfairly. Unless there is a good reason, we should not keep on barring him from an active role, if he wishes to do so,” Cde Mutasa said in the letter.
The Mashonaland West provincial co-ordinating committee held a meeting over the weekend and Cde Chiyangwa’s case was among the issues discussed.
Cde Ruben Marumahoko who is the acting provincial chairman presided over the meeting.
