Provinces call for Mujuru cabal purge

ZANU-PF provincial chairpersons and the war veterans association yesterday said party members who were working with the recently expelled former Vice President Joice Mujuru should repent or be shown the door.

Mujuru was on Thursday expelled from Zanu-PF on a range of allegations including attempting to illegally remove President Mugabe from power, corruption, colluding with the party’s enemies and sowing divisions in the ruling party.

The party leaders welcomed Mujuru’s ouster saying the move was long overdue.

The decision by Politburo followed a detailed report from the National Disciplinary Committee.

Bulawayo Acting provincial chairperson Christopher Dube said: “Now is the time of those who were working hand in glove with her particularly the youths to come out in the open and repent.”

He said the decision to expel Mujuru showed that there are no sacred cows in the party.

“The decision taken by the Politburo is final and if a person has done wrong he/she must attend a disciplinary hearing, if they are found guilty they have to be fired as in the case of Mujuru,” said Cde Dube

Matabeleland North chairperson Richard Moyo said Mujuru was a divisive element who also undermined the party’s leadership during her tenure as Vice President.

He said Mujuru’s expulsion was a strong warning to all power hungry party members.

“We are advising the youths to follow the party leadership, being power hungry has cost people like Mujuru their membership of the party,” said Cde Moyo.

“As a province we welcome the decision taken by the Politburo to expel Mujuru from the party. She had killed the party. We think it’s a good thing that they have decided to rid the party of people of her calibre.”

Midlands provincial chairperson Cde Kizito Chifamba urged government to act on all ministers who were part of the Mujuru cabal that were working on dividing the party. “We don’t want corrupt people in our party. We want all corrupt elements to go , even those in positions of authority must repent and go public because we know them especially in Midlands province,” said Cde Chifamba.

He said Mujuru should not only be expelled from the party but also prosecuted for her alleged corrupt ways.

“Zvagonekwa! Zvagonekwa (Well done! Well done!) we are happy with the decision taken by the party.

“It shows that the party has teeth. It was rather too late but we are glad it has been done now. We are happy that this woman is gone. We want government to take action against all those she worked with when planning her evil plots.

She must also be prosecuted for corruption following allegations that she was demanding 10 percent shares from different companies,” said Cde Chifamba.

Acting Matabeleland South provincial chairperson Rapelang Choene said the revolutionary party would never go wrong in terms of decision making.

“Anybody not toeing the party’s line or vision must not be part of it,” said Cde Choene.

He urged the youth to emulate President Mugabe whom he described as a visionary and principled leader.

“My advice to the youths is that we have a father who is a teacher, who is everything to us, the youths must emulate him in order to protect the country’s legacy,” said Cde Choene.

The national chairman of Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association, Cde Cde Christopher Mutsvangwa said his association welcomes the expulsion of Mujuru and endorses fully the Politburo decision.

“Mujuru’s conduct over the years, including even during the war, has all the hallmarks of unbridgeable academic deficiency worsened by a detached engagement to the national liberation struggle and an indifference to the welfare and plight of her fellow comrades in arms,” said Cde Mutsvangwa.

He said Cde Mujuru’s penchant for power led her into disrespecting public funds and demanded 10 percent from parastatals.

“Her facile mind easily swayed towards an ambition for power that was inversely proportional to her mental endowment. It similarly deviated towards unfettered greed as she knew no respect for public funds and property. Her role as Vice President was devoid of any virtue or vision.

In short she was a simpleton adrift across the ship of statecraft,” said Cde Mutsvangwa.

He added: “No wonder she won the adulation of the crypto racists who wallow in bigotry of racial supremacy and the inane incapacity of people of colour especially from the African continent and its diaspora.

Truth be told, she never downed a Rhodesian helicopter let alone ever getting into field combat”.
