Provincial hero Chionerwa buried

Hundreds of mourners on Tuesday thronged Manicaland Provincial Heroes Acre for the burial of liberation war hero Cde Daniel Chionerwa.

Cde Chionerwa, who was the chairman for war veterans in Mutare South, succumbed to hypertension and sugar diabetes on March 28.

His Chimurenga name was Swing Chesango.

In a speech read on her behalf by the deputy director in her office Mr Luck Bhasopo, Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs Dr Ellen Gwaradzimba described the late hero as a dedicated war veteran who always put his country first.

She said Cde Chionerwa was a dedicated cadre whose unquestionable qualities and active participation in the liberation struggle made him adorable to the masses.
