SIXTEEN schools will compete in the Bulawayo Basketball Association’s Under-20 boys’ selection tournament to be held over the weekend at Northlea High School.

BBA selectors will choose players that will represent Bulawayo province at the Zimbabwe National Youth Games set for August in Chinhoyi.

Schools that will compete in Saturday’s tournament dubbed “Bulawayo Top Schools Final” are Milton High, Gifford, CBC, Petra, Founders, Hamilton, Northlea, Nkulumane, Ihlathi, Sizane, St Columbus, Masotsha, Njube, Magwegwe and Msiteli.

“We’re selecting our provisional squad so that the boys get adequate training time. We want them to bring gold from the Youth Games. The tournament will be played on Saturday and Sunday and should it rain at the weekend, we will move to Khanyisile Sports Centre (formerly BCD),” said Charmaine Chirinda, BBA president for youth development.

She said the girls’ trials would be held in May.
