PSG join United in luring Mou

Cape Town — Jose Mourinho has been approached by Paris Saint-Germain to take over from Laurent Blanc as manager of the French club, widespread media reports indicate.

Mourinho has been without a job since being sacked by Chelsea in December last year.

The 53-year-old is now being linked with managing PSG, seemingly after Blanc’s side were surprisingly knocked out of the UEFA Champions League by Manchester City last week.

Blanc penned a two-year deal in February, but Sky Sports revealed on Tuesday that PSG chairperson, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, wants Mourinho to take the helm at the Paris-based outfit.

‘The Special One’ is said to have a friendship with Al-Khelaifi as PSG tried to lure Mourinho to the club on two different occasions.
Mourinho is also touted to take over from Louis Van Gaal at Manchester United following the Dutchman’s swirling second-season in charge.

“I am always linked with jobs and in the summer I will have a job, but in this moment I can promise you I do not have a contract with any club,” said Mourinho earlier this month.

United will review Van Gaal’s position during the off-season but his job is seemingly under threat. The former Netherlands mentor’s contract expires at the end of June 2017.

Mourinho, who has managed two different sides (Porto and Inter Milan) to Champions League glory, may have a tough choice about which club he would like to manage. — Sport24
